Scotland Golf Trip Recap As pictured on the front cover of this newsletter, 20 members of The Friars enjoyed a terrific time together in Scotland this past August. Location - Location - Location. How's the Rusacks Hotel overlooking the 18th green on the Old Course at St. Andrews for location? The men spent the first 4-nights of the 9-day trip staying at the Rusacks. Mornings began with breakfast with the Old Course and the R&A Clubhouse just outside the window. And golf on the Old Course, New Course (110 years old) and the Jubilee Course (105 years old) at St. Andrews was the perfect way to spend the days before the meeting for drinks in the lounge at Rusacks. In addition to golf at St. Andrews, we played the Championship Course at Carnoustie twice (site of next year's Open Championship), the excellent Kingsbarns Course (twice) and traveled to Edinburgh to play the 7th oldest golf course in the world - North Berwick (site of the famous Redan Green). While in Edinburgh, the group took in the world famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo Festival. "What a great time. Can't say enough about the terrific group of guys that were on the trip." - Ralph Bincarowsky "The trip was one of the best Friars events I have ever experienced." - Rich Borchers "My special thanks are to Tom Dwyer for all his work organizing, hosting and 'herding the cats'. I have never had anything but great experiences on The Friars trips." - Dave Lundquist "Thanks to all for making my trip to Scotland so memorable. The golf courses will be a wonderful memory but the friendships will be so more." - Terry Stafford "Great courses, great organization, great weather and most of all - great guys." - Peter Candlish FRONT COVER PICTURE Front Row (left to right): Jim Gorman, Tom Doolin, Tom Waldron, Jack Dwyer, John Crouchman, Peter Candlish, T.J. Club Notes Jack Dwyer's Daughter Appears on THE BIG BREAK VI Congratulations go out to Fritz Balsinger for his first Hole-in-One. It happened at the Avalon Lakes Club in Ohio on the 214 yard hole #8, a very challenging hole with water almost completely surrounding the green. Fritz used his number 3-metal.
